Patagonian National Parks boast glistening, emerald lakes, thick rainforests, epic volcanoes, glorious natural hot springs and of course, some of the world’s most awe-inspiring peaks. This combination, in our humble opinion, makes for a pretty damn good ski touring adventure.
If you thought you loved ski touring already, try shredding through the Andes under the South American sun with an empanada and a pisco sour waiting for you at the bottom.
This is one of our most epic adventures yet, and will certainly grant you a few bragging rights in the office for months to come!
There’ll be an evening briefing and gear check at the hotel in Bariloche before a dinner with the rest of the group ahead of the first day of adventure tomorrow.
Night at hotel in Bariloche.
Our first day of adventure takes us on a warm up tour up nearby Cerro Chall-Huaco. Refamiliarise yourself with the gear and get your muscles ready for an epic week ahead!
Night at hotel in Bariloche.
This is a truly spectacular touring day. We’ll skin up past the Lopez mountain hut before reaching the summit where sweeping views over the Cerro Tronador and the glistening Patagonian Lake District stretch out before us.
Night at hotel in Bariloche.
Today we’re hopping on the lifts from the Cerro Catedral ski area to reach the trailhead. We’ll skin up to Frey Hut that sits next to a stunning mountain tarn and bed down for the night. Make sure you catch the early morning sunrise the next day!
Night at Frey Hut.
A wealth of options available today depending on group energy. Jagged peaks, mountain lagoons and red-granite couloirs wait to be explored.
Night at Frey Hut.
Anywhere left unexplored yesterday can be sought out today as we enjoy our last day in the Frey area and ski back down to Bariloche.
Night at hotel in Bariloche.
Following in the footsteps of renowned mountaineer Otto Meiling, we’ll follow a route from the hamlet of Pampa Linda up to a small backcountry refuge in the Nahuel Huapi National park and kip here for the night surrounded by spectacular glacial views.
We couldn’t complete the trip without an ascent up the formidable Cerro Tronador, king of the Baroliche mountains. The Cerro Tronador is a dormant volcano that boats epic descents and even more stunning views. The perfect way to end the trip.
