Who Travels With Us

Your EBC Trek Team

Small Groups

Max 14 trekkers

Max 14 trekkers (often 8-10). Expect a mixed bag of solo Brits, a couple of Aussie mates and that super-keen Canadian nurse who’s read every Krakauer book.

Solo Travelers

Around 75% solo

Around 75 % come solo; you’ll share a twin room (same-gender) and probably a packet of Haribo at altitude.

Age Range

Mid-20s to late-50s

Mid-20s to late-50s, average ~35. Age matters less than grit and a half-decent sense of humour when the pipes freeze.

I had a great experience trekking to Everest Base Camp with them. The whole trip went smoothly and over all was very well organized. Our guide had a long experience leading the treks, he was a true professional and always ready to answer all my guestions about the trek and the area. He gave us clear instructions on what to expect and how to prepare for each day. While being great company he also made us feel very safe during the whole trek. He was also very helpfull when I got sick on the way to EBC! Our assistant guide Birkaji was always positive and brought good energy to the group! He was always ready to help us organize what ever was needed. Everest Base Camp trek is truly worth experiencing, and I can fully recommend EBC and them for your next trip!

Is the EBC Trek Challenge Right For You?

Discover if this adventure is right for you

Activity Type

RelaxedHardcore

Active trekking at altitude (daily 5-8 hrs on foot).

Physical Rating

EasyBeast Mode

Challenging – long days and thin air but no technical climbing.

Service Level

Roughing ItPlush

Twin hotel rooms in Kathmandu, basic teahouses on the trail.

Technical Rating

No SkillsMountaineer

No ropes or crampons – it’s a hike, not a climb.

How to Prepare
• Hit the hills – three months out, aim for back-to-back weekend hikes (6 hrs+, 1,000 m ascent). • Cardio in the week – running, cycling or office-stair intervals; 45-minute sessions build lungs for thin air. • Break-in boots early – blister-free feet are worth their weight in Dal Bhat. • Pack-walk – train with a 6 kg day-pack so the trail load feels normal. • Altitude hacks – hydrate, pace yourself (bistari-bistari) and skip the early-victory beers. • Paperwork – travel insurance that shouts “6,000 m helicopter evac”, Nepal visa and two passport photos.

Worried about Altitude Sickness?

Altitude is the big worry, so we slow the pace, build in two acclimatisation days and carry oximeters to check everyone nightly. If headaches bite, we pause or descend—no summit-fever heroics. Hydration, hearty meals and a calm, experienced guide team keep you safer than going it alone.

Top Tip
Drink 3–4 L of water a day and add electrolytes—the cheapest altitude helper you can buy.
