I would like to express my thanks to all the Nepal crew for all their hard work and hospitality and to the local crew for the efficient way which they dealt with and handled my helicopter evacuation and transfer to the clinic and the paperwork. Thanks for looking after me.

Things That Can Catch People Out
Summit day is a full 9–12 hours at extreme altitude – you’ll need reserves of grit as well as fitness.
Lukla flights are notoriously weather-dependent. Build two spare days into your international schedule just in case.
Mountain teahouses are cosy but basic. Hot showers cost extra and may run on yak-dung stoves – embrace the simplicity!
